The first position is the Hitachi Assistant Professor in High Performance Computing and is a five year tenure track position with permanency subject to satisfying tenure requirements. The second position is a specific purpose position with guaranteed funding for three years. The appointments will be tenable from January 2024. Arnold) that Euler�s equations for an ideal fluid describe geodesics in a Lie algebra. One application is to the atmosphere of a rotating planet, viewed as a two dimensional fluid (geostrophic approximation). Some ideas of non-commutative geometry allow a finite dimensional approximation by hermitian matrices. I will describe a model of how stratified flow (e.g., jet streams) develop. The much harder problem of three dimensional flow has a surprising connection to infinitesimal quantum groups (Lie bi-algebras). An old conserved quantity (helicity) of three dimensional fluid mechanics has a new meaning in this context, as an invariant inner product. Surbhi Khetrapal University of Hyderabad Title: Quantum chaos and Operator growth in 2d CFT Abstract: In this�talk�we will look at quantum chaos in Conformal field theory (CFT) in two dimensions at large central charge, where quantum chaos is characterised by the out-of-time-ordered correlator (OTOC). (a) First, we will look at a computation of the OTOC in a CFT with unequal temperatures for left- and right- moving modes dual to a rotating black-hole. We find that the OTOC exhibits periodic oscillations about an average Lyapunov growth. We also study the OTOC in the extremal limit of the dual black-hole, and find that there are short periods of exponential growth in this largely integrable system. (b) Secondly, we compute the OTOC in a zero temperature 2d CFT under evolution by a certain combination of Virasoro generators (L_{+1}+L_{-1}), usually encountered in the study of inhomogeneous quenches. A bound was proposed on the growth of the OTOC set by the operator growth (i.e. rate at which an operator becomes more complex under evolution). In this theory, we find that the OTOC saturates this bound. We explain the bound saturation by expressing the Hamiltonian as the modular Hamiltonian of CFT with half-space traced out.
