Title:&n= bsp;Boo= tstrapping bulk locality

Abstrac= t: The problem of constructing local bulk observables from boundary CFT data is o= f paramount importance in holography. We begin addressing this question fro= m a modern bootstrap perspective. Our main tool is the boundary operator ex= pansion (BOE), which holds for any QFT in AdS. Following Kabat and Lifschytz, we argue that the BOE is strong= ly constrained by demanding locality of correlators involving bulk fields. = Focusing on =91AdS form factors=92 of one bulk and two boundary insertions,= we reformulate these locality constraints as a complete, non-perturbative set of sum rules on the CFT and BOE data. = We study the flat-space limit when the AdS form factor reduces to a flat-sp= ace form factor, and provide a phase-shift formula for it in terms of CFT d= ata. In 2d, under certain extremality assumptions on the CFT, this formula leads to Watson=92s equations for int= egrable form factors. We discuss the utility of bulk locality, in combinati= on with crossing, for the conformal bootstrap.

Abstract: The regulation of sleep and wake occurs through the interaction of specific neuronal populations in the brain with macroscale internal rhythms and external environmental cues, such as the light-dark cycle. Mathematical models of sleep-wake regulation have been very successful at providing a conceptual framework for understanding the timing and duration of sleep, with implications for public policy on design of our living environments, the timing of our clocks (e.g. daylight saving time versus standard time) and the timing of our work schedules. Not surprisingly, since we remain in the states of sleep or wake for some time, but switch between states rapidly, models typically have multiple time scales. Here I’ll give a brief overview of the fast-slow dynamics of some recent models of sleep-wake regulation and the insights that understanding that structure brings.

Abstract: In this talk, first we survey the main classes of ``quasiworld': quasiconformal, quasiregular, quasisymmetric, quasim\'obius mappings, etc. In the mapping theory of higher dimensions, there are employed three main approaches: analytic, modular and metric. We discuss all of them and present our recent results relating to Teichm\'uller's theorem on separating rings in higher dimensions, removability and distortion estimates for mappings with controlled $p$-moduli, extremal bound estimates for planar quasireqular mappings. All the results will be illustrated by appropriate examples.

Title: Jacobson isopotency

Abstract: Given a natural number k, let us sa= y that a ring R satisfies the Jacobson k identity if x^{k+1} =3D x for all = x in R. Any such identity implies that the ring is commutative; this rather= well-known fact is proved as an application of Jacobson=92s structure theory.

We say that natural numbers m and n are isopo= tent if the Jacobson m- and n identities are logicall= y equivalent. This sets up an equivalence relation on N and we call the&nbs= p;smallest element of each equivalence class the stem. We propos= e the Pattern-Based Prediction (PBP) method for predicting population outbr= eaks. It uses information on previous time series values that precede an ou= tbreak event as predictors of future outbreaks, which can be helpful when m= onitoring pest species. We illustrate the methodology using simulated datas= ets and an aphid time series obtained in wheat crops in Southern Brazil. We= obtained an average test accuracy of 84.6% in the simulation studies imple= mented with stochastic models and 95.0% for predicting outbreaks using a ti= me series of aphids in wheat crops in Southern Brazil. Our results show the= PBP method=92s feasibility in predicting population outbreaks. We benchmar= ked our results against established state-of-the-art machine learning metho= ds: Support Vector Machines, Deep Neural Networks, Long Short Term Memory a= nd Random Forests. The PBP method yielded a competitive performance associa= ted with higher true-positive rates in most comparisons while providing int= erpretability rather than being a black-box method. It is an improvement ov= er current state-of-the-art machine learning tools, especially by non-speci= alists, such as ecologists aiming to use a quantitative approach for pest m= onitoring. Title: The complexity and practical importanc= e of insect outbreaks have made the problem of predicting outbreaks a focus= of recent research. We propose the Pattern-Based Prediction (PBP) method f= or predicting population outbreaks. It uses information on previous time series values that precede an outbrea= k event as predictors of future outbreaks, which can be helpful when monito= ring pest species. We illustrate the methodology using simulated datasets a= nd an aphid time series obtained in wheat crops in Southern Brazil. We obtained an average test accuracy of= 84.6% in the simulation studies implemented with stochastic models and 95.= 0% for predicting outbreaks using a time series of aphids in wheat crops in= Southern Brazil. Our results show the PBP method=92s feasibility in predicting population outbreaks. We benc= hmarked our results against established state-of-the-art machine learning m= ethods: Support Vector Machines, Deep Neural Networks, Long Short Term Memo= ry and Random Forests. The PBP method yielded a competitive performance associated with higher true-positive rat= es in most comparisons while providing interpretability rather than being a= black-box method. It is an improvement over current state-of-the-art machi= ne learning tools, especially by non-specialists, such as ecologists aiming to use a quantitative approach = for pest monitoring.
